Politics… not really.
Posted by Jonathan Bryant on Tuesday Aug 26, 2008 Under UncategorizedA good guy I just met made this quote on Twitter today,
” My point is to say that for too many of us – Politics informs our Christianity way more than our Christianity informs our Politics.” -Shaun King
I’ve been thinking about that and other profound statements I’ve heard lately from great Christian thinkers, and I’ve come to this realization… I truly do believe that God is in control. God set up this whole system, and the Word clearly states that all things work together for the good of those who love God – those who He has called according to His purpose.
Do I really think that God would allow the leader of the free world to wreck this place? Maybe. If that’s His purpose. If His purpose is for terror to go away, it would go away. If His purpose is for gas prices to be $10.00/gallon… YOU’D BETTER BELIEVE IT! He does what He wants, and He is NOT a respecter of men. God does what He wants, and it is all for the greater purpose.
I heard a message this week and the guy was saying that if we look at the situation, time, and place right now… we could lose heart. If we only see right now, man that could kill us and all hope we have. But, if in my own life, I could learn to constantly pull myself out of my surrounding and realize that Jesus has a MUCH bigger plan and perspective… man, that would be freedom, right?
Let’s think about it.
