Sunday Night Thoughts…

Posted by Jonathan Bryant on Sunday Nov 16, 2008 Under Gear, Music, Worship

So here’s the first of a weekly post I’m starting about how my Sunday went…

-Revolution Holly Springs went great this morning!

-The band was tight. We had a 3-piece today, which is a HUGE stretch for me. It makes me a better player, but I’ve hardly ever done it, so it’s a bit weird. Arranging songs at practice yesterday was challenging, but this morning went great.

-Gary Lamb brought it, and taught from the Word of God about sex and sexual sin. Also, he said “masturbation” about 20 times during the sermon today… people were squirming all morning long! It was great! (Seriously, you should go grab the podcast)

-I had a great ride to Canton yesterday afternoon and stayed with Ricky Merrefield last night. He’s a cool cat and his parents have a huge friggin’ house.

-Didn’t have to get to Holly Springs until 8a. That’s a lot better than 5a if I was in Canton.

-Preston is a great campus host… very energetic and doing a really good job there.

-I got my guitar set up this week, and it played like a dream this morning. (I know you don’t care, but I do) I also played without all my pedals this morning, just a tuner and an overdrive… sounded great, from what I could hear.

-Looking forward to next week at Holly Springs. I’m leading there with a 4-piece. The drummer is an old friend of mine that played with me at my last church, and he also has played with Thad before. Singing: “It’s a small world after all…”

-This afternoon, I ate in Marietta at the Marietta Diner. There were a TON of people in there, and I found out why… the food was AMAZING! Roast beef sandwich, onion rings, and a water. I’m gonna take Candice there next week on our way back to Revolution.

-I’ve got to get to bed, but make sure to keep checking out the blog this week for some brand new posts.

I’ve missed you… Here’s an update.

Posted by Jonathan Bryant on Monday Oct 27, 2008 Under Family, Gear, Worship

So I have missed sharing my thoughts with everyone for a little while now (especially since my computer is no more), but I think I’ve found my inspiration again.

So here’s what’s been happening with me since my last entry:

-Still loving going down to Canton, GA and leading worship at Revolution Church every few weeks. They’ve started a new campus and it’s rockin’! I’ve got a good buddy Thad there, and the pastor Gary is a pretty cool guy. You should check them out.

-Playing at a wedding this weekend. Not my favorite thing to do, but excited nonetheless. The bride is our friend from college who has been in Honduras as a missionary for the past 3 years. She fell in love with a local and brought him back to the states. Weird story, good people. Asheville, NC, Sunday, 2p.

-God has really been stirring some gifts up in me lately that I never knew about. The last few months I have discounted as being a dry time in my life… but everytime I get squeezed lately, I can see that God has been pouring into me like crazy. Not only is He making them known, but He has laid out such specific instances for them to be used that it’s gotta be Him. I’m blown away, and God is good.

-The baby (my 13mo old daughter Abigail) is growing like a freakin’ weed! She had her first pumpkin patch experience the other day and it was amazing to see her having a great time. We’re so blessed. Here’s a pic:

-My computer is still dead. I really need to get a new one, as I have some things coming up that really do require a computer, but money is tight. Anyone want to contribute?

-The biggest thing as of right now, I’m about to take a trip in the next couple of weeks that could change my life. I’m excited about the details, but can’t say much yet. It does have to do with old friends and a few days away from SC. Church visits, a conference in Cincy, and a retreat center are in my future. Pray for me, as I’ll be praying for my family and our future. Thanks a ton!

-I’ve been visiting some area churches around Seneca, Clemson, and Anderson. Seeing some great things and some not so great things. Just being honest.

-This just in… a member of our close family was arrested this weekend and will probably be in jail for a long long time. The details aren’t important, but please pray for them that they might be turned around by God’s great mercy. Thanks.

I guess that’s about it. Goodnight internet.

Revolution Holly Springs!!

Posted by Jonathan Bryant on Sunday Sep 7, 2008 Under Music, Worship

Just wanted to say that the Revolution Church Staff and Volunteers PULLED IT OUT and got the Holly Springs Campus locked, loaded, and from what I’ve seen in the pictures, DELIVERED this morning! I hate we couldn’t be there, but money is tight… hopefully we’ll get to visit again sometime soon.

Here are a couple of pictures for you to enjoy, and I may have some more later:

What’s on my mind right now…

Posted by Jonathan Bryant on Monday Sep 1, 2008 Under Uncategorized

A bunch of friends have been asking lately how we are and what’s on my mind… so I’ll tell you…

Revolution Church

Revolution Church

This was our second week at Revolution Church in Canton, GA. I have an old college buddy who leads worship there, Thad Wood, and he’s been so supportive about getting us plugged in. I played on the worship team this week and had a great time.

Here’s why I’m so excited about Revolution Church:

-They LOVE Jesus

-They LOVE people more than they love being comfortable

-They are honest people, maybe a bit too much (if there is such a thing), but they don’t believe in beating around the bush or sugar coating things… INCLUDING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS.

-They are launching a new campus about 10 minutes from their main campus… and if you ask them why, they say, “So there are more seats for people who don’t know Jesus to sit in, hear the Gospel, and be transformed.”

I can dig that.

…details coming.
